When our teacher announced that there would be Science Games held at the Science
Centre, we were all delighted and began forming groups. In the end, our group was
formed (see members) and we decided to take part in a game called the Great Tree Hunt.
We arrived at the Science Centre at 2.00p.m that afternoon. When we reached there, a lady approached us and asked if we came for the Science Game. Upon hearing our reply, she said that we were suppose to be here at 1.00p.m and we were late! However, she was still kind enough to let us continue with the game. Upon that, she gave us each a worksheet (see sample worksheet) and explained the rules of the games. Each person will have to find out all the plants with the clues given in the worksheet. The plants will have a tag with an "X" word on it. The first two people to find out all the plants in the group will win himself a prize. With that, we proceeded to the EcoGarden, where the game will be held. Holding the worksheet in our hand, we set off to find out all the plants as fast as we could. We were not the only group there. There were also pupils from other schools. At first, we had difficulty finding these "X-rated" plants and to match them with the correct clues. After some running here and there, we managed to find a few plants, but did not know exactly which plants belong to which clues. Despite reading the information given about the plant, we were still unable to figure out. This is probably a lesson to be learnt, that we still do not have enough knowledge of these basic plants. Beads of perspirations flowed down our cheeks as the sun shone mercilessly. We continued finding our plants and finally all these "X-rated" plants were found. However, we had all the plants mixed up and could not figure out which plant matched which clue. After some thinking and analysing, we found the answer and ran to get our worksheets marked and claim the prizes. In the end Tien Yuan and Kai Liang emerged winners. After a day's hard work, we went about roaming in the EcoGarden to learn more about plants. The we went into the Science Centre and explored it. It was really fabulous, as we learn many scientific knowledge as we moved on, like energy and so on. Then we bided goodbye when it reached 6.00p.m. This is indeed a very useful and exciting trip to the Science Centre! |
